Day-19

So I have signed up for swimming lessons and at the exact time I have got a cold. That’s pretty guilt-inducing for me considering that my mother stubbornly believes that I never finish anything.
But I am still exercising anyway. If the cold is not too bothersome or accompanied by fever then it might actually be a good idea to work out. I have noticed that the cold’s effects somehow lessen.
Anyway the great part is that I inadvertently did TWO workouts. One was in the morning and right now when I got my new set of dumbells home from the car. Boy were they heavy!!

Ta-dah!! Yes the plates can be removed. Red, yellow and blue weigh 1.5, 1 and 0.8 kg respectively. The bar itself weighs 1kg. So in all 7.6 kg.
Looking forward to working out tomorrow like never before! πŸ˜‰

Day 18, Day 17

So I totally forgot to make a blog entry yesterday. But that’s because I was buying a new set of dumbells πŸ™‚ Also, my exercise plan is ready. This is what I am following.

Yesterday was a little challenging for me even mentally. As I was getting dressed to step out, I noticed that my belly had become bigger than what it was even before I started working out! I was a little scared, demotivated, negative about how I couldn’t fit well into what I was wearing. The entire evening I was very conscious of my body. But then the reason for the sudden bloating hit me as I was driving back! It was RICE! This was probably the second time only in the past fortnight that I ate rice for lunch and I don’t think I am going to eat rice again till I achieve my exercise goal. I read online about rice and stomach bloating. Apparently, rice “swells” in the stomach after absorbing liquids inside. Another theory was that sometimes the bacteria in the large intestine that help with digestion of rice start producing gas because of which this sudden bloating occurs. Whatever it was, I was feeling bloated like crazy! And it’s not a nice feeling. After all the workouts and planning the diets, it doesn’t feel good when the tummy protrudes even more than what it was at the beginning!

Anyhow, thankfully the bloating mystery is solved πŸ™‚ Also I have bought a Kilo of whey protein powder so that there’s a commitment to finishing it.

I am going to put up a lot of pictures today. So stay tuned!

Day 14- Biceps

Oops! I forgot to update the blog yesterday. But this was my exercise plan:

Mountain climbers- 30/20

Standing elbows to knees- 30/20

Bicep curls- 15/12/12– 8 pounds

Hammer curls 15/12/10– 8 pounds

Basic crunch- 25/25

Skyreachers- 20/15 (not as easy as they look)

Reverse crunch- 20/20

Situps- 20/20

I am not too sure about Situps and then there are a lot of conflicting articles on fitness websites. What do you guys think? Should situps be done at all?

Day 11- Rest day

Today I really got a chance to read a little about nutrition and someΒ  myths surrounding it. I am also using Quora on my Samsung Tab 2 to read exercise and nutrition related stuff.
As a part if being a musician and performer, I have to be away from food for long durations and I can’t really imagine chompimg on food when in front if an audience. Even while driving, I have always carried almonds, raisins, dates etc. So today I decided to change that. Here’s my 1st snack

image

Carrots! πŸ™‚
And 1st dinner

image

Sprouts, red and yellow bell pepper, broccoli, onion, olives, Greek feta cheese dressed in pepper, salt, honey, mustard and little olive oil.

I feel such a sense of achievement that I am going to carry this along! My relationship with my body just became really serious πŸ™‚
I’ll post later how much I enjoyed eating it.
Have a great day ya’ll!

Day 2 Morning Run

Woohooo!!! I woke up at 5.40 AM <insert *APPLAUSE*>, read for a while while sipping chai and was out of the house at 6.35 AM while chewing on 3 almonds on my way.

Today I clocked 2KM which I think is awesome for just the second day. Let’s wait and see what my shins think. Ironically I kept wishing I was lighter so that I could run better!

The morning run provides such specimen that are totally unavailable on the evening run. For instance, plenty of humans were walking with their arms rotating in a propellor-like motion; as if they were trying to take off from the ground! Anyway I felt relatively smarter than ALL of them since I was only trying to run, not fly.

Coming up next, a review of my new running shoes from Nike. Stay tuned!

30 day challenge no. 2

I was looking for some ideas to start my next 30-day challenge after the resounding success of my first one which was to stay off Twitter. I read a list of ideas but none of them were inspiring enough. So I have decided to walk for 30 mins daily for the next 30 days. I have no excuses to not do it. I have bought myself excellent running shoes. And that’s it. Walking anyway doesn’t need any other equipment other than an iron will!

So, there. I’ve declared it. Come hell or high water, I shall walk! \m/

What’s up

Well pretty much everything is looking up! And just when I think that things couldn’t get any better, they DO!

Even though my resolve of writing a blog-post daily lost steam somewhere after the 4th day, I have managed to achieve a LOT else! A personal victory has been being off Twitter for 30 days straight. It’s especially important to me because I was heavily addicted to Twitter to the point of being worried about myself.

Then in this 30-day challenge I released my debut album to a very good reception! I got promoted with my album cover on one of the biggest international apparel and footwear brands’ official page too! I hadn’t planned for all this in detail. But I guess this is my biggest lesson: I made space in my life for the things that are important to me and the Universe paid back with such rich dividends.

What I am currently experiencing is INVINCIBILITY and a feeling of being un-hurtable. It’s a pretty awesome feeling also because it’s sustained over many days πŸ™‚

Of course there are many personal challenges in front of my eyes right now but I know that one very important thing is off my bucket-list, which is my music album. You can get a sneak preview over here πŸ˜€

Day 4, 5

Day 4 went away at super-sonic speed. I had a lot to do and ended up doing even more than I had expected. I practised guitar but missed doing most of the other things. I may have to tweak somethings according to my schedule so as to not end up feeling guilty!

Day 5 has begun late. And it brings forth more and more news of what a grueling month August is going to turn out to be! No complaints though πŸ™‚

And it’s my 5th happy day without Twitter. Now I don’t miss it at all!

Next update soon!

Day 3

Image

So my third day is a little less successful than previous two. I woke up late. But I have a very fine excuse…I slept very late and I was very very tired. But I am not allowing myself to feel guilty about it. I mean, what’s the point of that anyway.

Although, I already cooked and had lunch. And there’s still time to accomplish the rest of the 8 things that I am “supposed” to do.

Apart from that I am in a great mood. I have work even tomorrow and I have to drive all the way across the city and come back; totally looking forward to that…NOT! But it means I get money, which is GREAT! So, Yayyy!

My album is done. That’d be one thing off my bucket-list. Now awaiting its release which should be in the next two weeks or so. Most of my idle time goes into getting my marketing plan in place. How do I get my CD to be heard and bought by people whom I’m not connected to directly. How do I get them to know that my music exists.

If you have stumbled across this and have read upto here, please drop in your suggestions. I’ll be more than grateful!

Day 2- Food

Image

Boil potatoes and peel and chop them when cool. Heat oil in a pan. Put mustard seeds, curry leaves(bay leaves), green chillies, asafoetida and turmeric.

Put chopped potatoes in the pan, sprinkle salt and sugar and mix well. Let it simmer for 3 minutes and you’re done.

I’m eating it with Dosas πŸ™‚
